Selegiline can cause dryness of the mouth. To reduce this side effect, chew sugarless gum or candy, use a saliva substitute, or melt bits of ice in your mouth before swallowing. Let your doctor know if this continues for more than 2 weeks.

Do not take selegiline if you have taken a narcotic pain medicine (including meperidine, methadone, tramadol, Demerol(r), Dolophine(r)) or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, rasagiline, phenelzine, or tranylcypromine within the past 14 days. Doing so may increase your chance of having a life-threatening reaction.
